Sri Kailasanathar Swamy Devasthanam Temple (GPS: https://www.penang-traveltips.com/sri-lanka/colombo/sri-kailawasanathar-swamy-devasthanam.htm) also known as
Sri Kaileswaram Temple, or
Kovil Veediya, is the oldest and one of the largest Hindu temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is located at Captain's Garden, Maradana district, behind the Fort Railway Station. As such, it is also called
Captain's Gardens Pillayar Kovil. Within it are shrines dedicated to Shiva and Ganesh.
I visited the Sri Kailawasanathar Swami Devasthanam along with my group of AsiaExplorers members when we explored Colombo. We were on one final day in Sri Lanka, and we had a "stand-in" guide to take us around the city, as our main tour guide was occupied. As the person doesn't speak much English, I had to do a bit of my own research to find out about this temple.
