Lumut Lane, off
Acheen Street, is a small Hindu shrine in
George Town, Penang. It serves the pocket-size Indian community of Lumut Lane. The Indians here are part of the
Ayira Vaisyar community that have chosen to settle in George Town. They have their
merchant association on nearby Acheen Street. In the surrounding of the Sri Muthumariamman temple are a number of
Anglo Indian style houses that are still dwelled by the Indians.

Updates
The Sri Muthumariamman Temple was rebuilt between 2013 and 2015. The new building is of bricks. It is topped with a small
gopuram, and lined with a row of sculptures. The temple administrative building is likewise rebuilt, and stop the traditional red-and-white stripes
