SMK St. George Balik Pulau

St. George's Balik Pulau (GPS: 5.35379, 100.23742), known today as Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan St. George Balik Pulau, is a secondary school in Balik Pulau. It is adjacent to the St. George's Primary School (Sekolah Kebangsaan St George Balik Pulau). Both were established by Hakka-speaking Catholic missionaries from the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus. The school traces its history to the late 19th century, when classes were held within the compound of the church. It was then known as St Anthony's School.

The present school building dates back to 1936. It is located across the Balik Pulau Main Road from the church. It took on the present name following its relocation.

Getting there by bus

The nearest bus stop is outside Chong Teik Primary School, along Jalan Tun Sardon. It receives Rapid Penang bus 401, 401E, 403, 404, 501 and 502. From there, walk to the junction of Balik Pulau Main Road and turn right. The school is about 280 meters after the junction, on the left.
