On my food tour of Bukit Tambun, my friend brought me to this stall selling laksa. For want of a better name, I will just call it Bukit Tambun Laksa. To reach it, you turn off the main road, Jalan Bukit Tambun and take the side road beside Tambun Kochabi Kopitiam. You will pass a Chinese temple on your left, and the former building of SJKC Keng Koon on your right. The building today serves as the ilumni association (Persatuan Bekas Murid-Murid Sekolah Keng Koon) after the school relocated.
This laksa stall is located in a private house behind the former school building. There is an open space in front of the house and customers park their cars there.
The laksa has the "old world taste" (or as we say it in Penang Hokkien, kor1ca1bi33"). The broth is rich in fish flakes, and there's a generous topping of mint leaves and torchginger. I enjoyed it and look fored to returning.
In addition to the laksa, we also had the nasi lemak, which came with a variety of items. The rice was coloured a light blue from butterfly pea flower. It came with curry chicken, potatoes, anchovies fried with groundnuts, half a boiled egg and pickles.
In addition to the laksa and nasi lemak, my friend ordered the trotters in black vinegar. It is also very tasty. We were fortunate to get the meaty parts with a good balance of meat and fat.
And that's not all, my friend also ordered a small plate of deep-fried beancurds, fish cakes and prawn wantan. We also ordered a plate of deep-fried springrolls.
To wash down this lovely meal, we had cendol. It is very refreshing on that hot day.
When it came time to pay the bill, the hawker informed us it is "on the house". That was so nice of her, even though we had insisted on paying our share.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
