The Wembley Penang, or by its official name, The Wembley - A St Giles Premier Hotel, is one of the biggest hotels in George Town, Penang. I have a relationship with this hotel from the time it first opened its doors to the public.
On 25-28 May, 2018, I enjoyed the privilege of a review stay to experience its hospitality. It is a stay that my wife and I very much looked forward to. We are well acquainted with many of the staff of the hotel, and we looked forward to enjoying their company and hospitality.
We arrived at The Wembley Penang at around 6:30pm. We were provided a room with a gorgeous view. From our room, we could see George Town spread out before us. The North and South Channel (the sea) is like a blue river separating Penang Island from Seberang Perai, and Butterworth was also clearly visible in the horizon. To the right side, we could see the first Penang Bridge.
Upon entering our room, we were delighted by the warm welcome from the Housekeeping Team. They have folded the towel to resemble an elephant! Two smaller face towels were folded into bunnies. They are so adorable! There is also a welcome message to us on the bed.

It is customary for me to arrange for a room review during my visit to any hotel. It is no different here, as I need to showcase the rooms to my readers. So often I am the closest that they would get to seeing the rooms themselves, so my photographs offer them a chance to review the room and hopefully decide to book at this hotel.

On this page are the rooms at The Wembley Penang which I have reviewed and photographed.
In addition to checking out the rooms, we also checked out various parts of the hotel. At the lobby itself is the Lobby Lounge, which has a bar with a wide range of beverages.

After that, we were also taken to the top floor to view the Executive Lounge. This lounge affords added privacy for guests booked on the Executive Level of the hotel. From here, you can get a stupendous view of George Town below.

During our stay, we enjoyed the Grill & Rotisserie Buffet on Friday and the Japanese & Seafood Buffet on Saturday. Added to that, we also enjoyed the morning breakfast and the Local Fare & Seafood Buffet on Sunday, so as you can imagine, it was an almost continuous feasting. The items are varied, and is a continuous kaleidoscope of gastronomic proportions. Added to that, we enjoyed the warm hospitality from the restaurant manager, Alvin and the executive chef, Chef
Wembley Cafe is always a riot of food, and this was going to prove true throughout our stay. The buffet is spread out along the length of the side wall, with more food lined up on either sides of a long food island.

One of the highlights of The Wembley Penang is its swimming pool. Located on the 8th floor of the hotel, it affords splendid views of downtown George Town. There is an adult pool and a children's pool. Also on the 8th floor is the gymnasium. As with most hotels that I review, I try to make it a point in using the pool, which is quite long and so gives a good exercise for swimming a few laps.

The dinner of our second evening was the Japanese & Seafood Buffet. It was a sumptuous affair, with lots and lots of Japanese cuisine and seafood. Just let me give you a look at it.

The glorious food of Wembley Cafe is not limited just to its evening buffets. Even the morning breakfast is sumptuous, with items that encompass both Western and Oriental breakfast items. There's always various types of cheese, which delighted me immensely, as I often start my breakfast with Brie or Camembert Cheese and crackers. On top of that, there's also nasi lemak, various types of noodles, pastries including various types of bread, croissant, danish, and other delicious items. And of course, there is an egg station where we could order eggs done to our preference.

Our three days and two nights passed quickly, even though we were at the hotel almost the whole time. The room was so comfortable we hardly want to leave to go anywhere, except to go downstairs for the meals or to enjoy the beautiful swimming pool.
As with all review stays, it was eventually time to leave. We are very thankful to the management and staff of The Wembley Penang for extending such a warm hospitality to us throughout our stay. It was truly a stay I shall remember for a long time to come.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
