Jalan Heah Joo Seang, Tanjung Bungah, Penang (22 February 2020)


Jalan Heah Joo Seang is a minor road in Tanjung Bungah, Penang. It connects the main road, Jalan Lembah Permai, to Jalan Chee Swee Ee. In between, it branches off to Jalan Sam Ah Chow, Jalan Lim Huck Aik and Jalan Baba Ahmad. It serves as an artery road to the neighbourhood.

Heah Joo Seang (1899-1962) is a Malayan politician, businessman, rubber tycoon and philanthropist. Born in Sungai Nibong Kecil in 1899, Heah attended a Chinese primary school in his village before moving on to study at the St Xavier's Institution. The school benefited from his generosity when, after he became successful in business, he funded the building of the school auditorium, now named Dewan Heah Joo Seang in his honour.
