Sungai Bagan Jermal, Tanjong Tokong

Sungai Bagan JermalSungai Bagan Jermal (16 April 2013)

Sungai Bagan Jermal is one of the rivers in Tanjong Tokong, Penang. It flows in a north-easterly direction to empty in Teluk Ayer Rajah. It took its name after the pier, or bagan, that used to jut out of the bay. The river carves its course into the mudflats of the bay. This is visible during low tide, with the river joining the larger Sungai Balik Batu.

The source of Sungai Bagan Jermal is somewhere near the Mount Erskine Cemetery. From there, it flows east. The river flows under Jalan Tanjong Tokong and continues south of Marina Bay Condominiums to reach its estuary.
