Sungai Nibong Express Bus Terminal (GPS: 5.34318, 100.30031) is the main bus terminal for long-distance buses connecting Penang Island with various destinations in Malaysia and Singapore. It is located in
Sungai Nibong, next to the
Pesta Site, with the
Bayan Lepas Elevated Highway in front of it.
The Sungai Nibong Express Bus Terminal was open to the public in April 2005. With the opening, express bus services were relocated from Kampungku in
Gelugor. The site at Kampungku was not appropriate because there was insufficient space fo the commuters. The new Sungai Nibong site was chosen as it as ample sample for car park. There is also a taxi stand beside and in front of the terminal. The terminal is served by public buses along
Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and
Jalan Sungai Dua. The proximity of Sungai Nibong to the
Penang Bridge as well as its central located on Penang Island makes it an ideal site for the express bus terminal.
