Sungai Samagagah, Balik Pulau (27 February 2013)
Sungai Samagagah is a river in
Balik Pulau, Penang. It branches off from
Sungai Rusa to head south, where it eventually joins
Sungai Kuala Jalan Baru (also called Sungai Kongsi), at the village of
Kuala Jalan Bahru. Another tributary of Sungai Samagagah is
Sungai Air Putih, which flows from the hill of Air Putih, Balik Pulau.
For much of its journey, Sungai Samagagah flows through a plantation landscape, with palm oil and sometimes paddy growing on both sides. As it is away from the main road, the river is not immediately known by many. It is only at Kuala Jalan Bahru that Sungai Samagagah is visible. That is when it runs under a bridge to flow into Sungai Kuala Jalan Baru.
