Sungai Titi Teras, Balik Pulau (16 February 2013)
Sungai Titi Teras is one of the main rivers in
Balik Pulau, on the west coast of Penang Island. It flows west to become Sungai Kongsi, which beyond
Jalan Baru becomes
Sungai Kuala Jalan Baru before discharging into the
Straits of Malacca at
Kuala Jalan Bahru.
The source of Sungai Titi Teras is somewhere behind the pekan of Balik Pulau. From there, it starts its journey west. Jalan Air Putih (Federal Route 6) crosses it at the southern border of the village of
Titi Teras. From there, Sungai Titi Teras makes a few zig-zag bends before straightening up as it approaches Jalan Kampung Paya Kongsi. There are village houses on the banks of the river, from the time when villagers depended on it for fresh water. Somewhere in Kampung Paya Kongsi it flows into Sungai Kongsi, and from there continues west.
