Experiencing Sunrise Gurney 68PG Seafront Duplex Homestay (13 October 2017)


Sunrise Gurney 68PG Homestay is a luxury homestay on Gurney Drive, Penang. It offers two-bedroom duplex condominium units as homestays. My wife and I had the privilege of trying it out on 13-15 October, 2017. Upon arrival, we were issued a car park access card and personal access card. The unit has a spacious living room and a hallway with kitchenette.

Unlike staying at a hotel, amenities are at the minimal. However, a homestay is really like staying at home, but at a different location. And if I were to pick a location for a home, few has sceneries as breathtaking at Sunrise Gurney 68PG. From this duplex condominium, I can get panoramic views of the sea and Gurney Drive in the foreground. Straight ahead, we can see Gunung Jerai in the horizon, to the left is Tanjong Tokong while to the right side, is George Town and Butterworth. I could just stand there in the living room, gazing at the view.

We cocooned ourselves in our unit for much of the time. We only came out when it's time to grab a bite. On our first evening, we ate at Song River, located just across Birch Road from the condominium. In the morning of the second day, we had our breakfast at New Cathay in Pulau Tikus. For lunch, we had Nasi Campur Wati at Hai Beng Coffee Shop, at the junction of Jones Road with Burmah Road.
