Sunway Hotel Georgetown is throwing a Christmas Eve Buffet at their Sun Café on 24 December, 2016, from 7:00pm to 10:30pm. It is priced at RM70 nett (adult) and RM40 nett (child). To book a table, contact Sunway Hotel Georgetown at +604 229 9988.
My wife and I were guests of the hotel for the food tasting of this buffet. We were joined by journalists from the newspapers, and were warmly greeted by members of the hotel's marketing communications team.
There is a wide array of food served to us. The main dishes include Roasted Leg of Lamb with Black Pepper and Rosemary Sauce, Pan-seared Sea Bass with Fresh Tomato and Capsicum Sauce, Deep-fied Prawns with Masala Spices, and at the carving station, there was a Traditional Tom Turkey with Giblet Gravy and Cranberry Sauce with accompanied with Mushroom and Chestnut Stuffing, Sautéed Red Bliss Potato with Rosemary and Butter-glazed Broccoli. Those are the items which I tasted, and I liked them so much that I returned for seconds. There are other items for the main dish which I haven't tried, such as the Wok Fried Squids with Kam Heong Sauce, Chicken Ballotine with Spinach Mousse in Orange Mint Coulis, Braised Nai pak and Mushroom in Vegetarian Abalone Sauce, Potato Dauphinoise and Vegetable Pulao Rice.
The centrepiece of the buffet is a large gingerbread house. It is made from edible items, but it is not really meant to be eaten. Nevertheless, the gingerbread house gives off a wonderful aroma of cinnamon. Kudos to the restaurant team.
I am not the type that go through a buffet in the expected sequence. I usually zoom in on what I love to eat most. There is a salad bar with various types of salad and dressings, I only have room for a small portion.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
