My wife and I were invited by Sushi King to join a group of food bloggers to try out their promotional items for the Chinese New Year season. Themed Doubly Fresh Doubly Joyous, this promotion runs from 1 January until 28 February, 2017.

The centrepiece of the promotion is the Prosperity Yee Sang, which is served by Norwegian Salmon, which comes from the cold, clear waters of Norway and flown in. Diners can choose between the Tangy Plum Sauce or the Wasabi Sauce. For the purpose of this food review, we got to try both. The Tangy Plum Sauce is the common sauce found with Yee Sang, while the Wasabi Sauce is Sushi King's own version. I found that the Wasabi Sauce is sweet and, for those who are fearful of Wasabi fire, not to fear, it isn't really that fiery.

I like Sushi King's version of Yee Sang. I find their Prosperity Yee Sang to be a healthier version of the dish, as it has mostly "real food" rather than coloured crisps. Also, I appreciate that the Tangy Plum Sauce is not as sour as the plum sauce I have had elsewhere (I am not too fond of very sour food). Another interesting thing about the Prosperity Yee Sang is that the raw salmon flesh is minced, so it mixes quite evenly, allowing the various participating members to get their own portion. Finally, I enjoy the baby octopus added to the Yee Sang.

In addition to the Prosperity Yee Sang (RM45.88 + RM2.75 GST, for 4-6 pax), diners also have the option to order the regular Yee Sang (RM38.88 + RM2.33 GST, for 4-6 pax) and the Longevity Yee Sang (RM18.88 + 1.13 GST, for 2-3 pax).

Other items in the Doubly Fresh Doubly Joyous promotion include the CNY Bento (RM19.90+RM1.12 GST), the Seafood Bento (RM19.90+RM1.19 GST), the Assorted Sushi (RM6+RM0.36 GST), the Fried Salmon Sushi (RM5+RM0.30 GST), the Spicy Salmon Teriyaki (RM5+RM0.30 GST), Salmon Teriyaki (RM5+RM0.30 GST), Salmon Don (RM8.88+RM0.53 GST) and the Ontama Salmon Don (RM8.88+RM0.53 GST).

For dessert, we were treated to Hanjuku Cheese Cake, a very soft cotton cheesecake that almost melts in the mouth.
