The Swee Hock Chan Godown was a warehouse that once occupied 25 Acheen Street. It belonged to local merchant Goh Say Eng, one of the fervent supporters of Dr Sun Yat Sen and his revolutionary cause. Goh Say Eng was one of the founders of the Chinese Revolutionary Alliance, or Tong Meng Hui as well as the Chinese reading club, the Penang Philomatic Union.

Under the ownership of the Goh family, the Swee Hock Chan Godown was used for various purposes, including as the temporary premises of the Penang Philomatic Union, when it relocated from the Li Teik Seah Building, as well as the office of the Chung Ling High School Alumni.

When the Sun Yat Sen Heritage Trail was created, the Swee Hock Chan Godown as listed as along the sights on the trail.

Getting there

From the Weld Quay Ferry & Bus Terminal, walk south on Weld Quay until junction of Acheen Street Ghaut. Cross Weld Quay and follow Acheen Street Ghaut. You will cross Victoria Street and then Beach Street, and continue along Acheen Street. Look for the site, at 25 Acheen Street, on the left side of the road. Total walking distance is about 2266 ft.
