Taman Desa Ria is a major housing estate in Sungai Ara, Penang. It occupies the land which was formerly the Sungai Ara Estates belonging to the family of David Brown, one of the largest land owners in Penang in the 19th and early 20th century. Taman Desa Ria has a mix of residential properties ranging from flats to apartments, condominiums, low-cost houses, to upscale bungalows.

Taman Desa Ria is 16.1 km from Komtar. It is not the most ideal place to stay if you are working in the city, as it is simply too far, and you will wade through congested roads all the way. It is more appropriate for people working in the south side, such as at the Bayan Lepas Industrial Zone.
