Taman Free School Field (23 September 2012)


Taman Free School Field (GPS: 5.40358, 100.30924) is a playing field in Taman Free School, Penang. Created in the late 1950s, it provides some greenery to the area that was developed when George Town expanded southward with the formation of Taman Free School between Green Lane and Perak Road.

Over the years, Taman Free School Field has been spruced up and beautified. At the time I photographed it (Dec 2012), its landscaping includes a row of cannas near the car park of Medan Selera Taman Free School. Railings have also been installed to prevent entry by motorcycles. The side of the field across from Block A has a paved area for outdoor recreation.
