Taman Free School (GPS: 5.40341, 100.31047) is a working-class housing estate located between Jelutong and Green Lane in George Town, Penang. The street leading into the neighbourhood is likewise called Taman Free School. The flats in Taman Free School are mostly low-rise walk-up blocks. They were developed in the early 1970s to provide housing for the burgeoning population of George Town, and derives its name from nearby Penang Free School.
The flats at Taman Free School can be divided into four main groups. On the north side are low-rise horizontal blocks. These are named KA, KB, KC and so on, until KQ, skipping over KI and KO. All of these are parallel to one another except KP, which is aligned diagonally at the eastern end of the housing estate.
At the heart of Taman Free School are Blocks A, B, C and D. These are grouped in a cluster. Along with Blocks E, F, G, H, J and K, they are the oldest in the area. Closest to Free School Road are the newer high rise blocks, namely L, M and N.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
