Taman Kheng Tian Night Market (1 August 2008)
Taman Kheng Tian Night Market is one of the biggest
night markets in Penang. It takes places every Friday evening in
Taman Kheng Tian, the densely populated neighbourhood of Jelutong. The night market occupies much of
Van Praagh Road, though the night market spills over to Jalan Ooi Thiam Siew and Lorong Parit Buntar.

Most of the stalls along Van Praagh Road sell clothing and household items, from nail clippers to clocks. The major draw of the night market, however, are the food stalls. They line both sides of Jalan Ooi Thiam Siew, and part of Lorong Parit Buntar. There is an almost endless array of some of the best Penang hawker food to be found here, at prices that the
Gurney Drive Hawker Centre can't touch. Among the hawker food that I have noted here include the
Hokkien mee,
koay kak, yong tau foo, nasi lemak,
nasi tomato, sugar cane water,
putu mayong,
lok lok, sweet dessert, fried chicken,
rojak,
satay,
curry mee, pastries, preserves, crackers, fruits,
apom,
muah chee, and much more.
