Tasek Gelugor is still very much a rural part of Penang. It comprises a few small villages surrounding the main town or Pekan Tasek Gelugor. Among the villages and settlements here include Kampung Air Melintas kecil, Kampung Belukar, Kampung Lahar Tembun, Kampung Pengkalan Batu, Kampung Permatang Indah and Kampung Banggul.
The two main roads in Tasek Gelugor are Jalan Gelugor (P119) and Jalan Kubang Menderung (P123). The railway line passes through the town, and a new flyover on Jalan Gelugor enables uninterrupted traffic flow over the railway line. The main river in Tasek Gelugor is Sungai Korek.
Much of the area surrounding Tasek Gelugor is covered with oil palm plantations where the people are mostly Tamils working in the estates, while in the town centre itself, the businesses are run by the Chinese.

Getting there
Exit the North-South Expressway at Exit 166 (Bertam Interchange). At the first T-junction, turn left on state route P123 (Jalan Kubang Menderung). The road makes a turning to the south following the railway line to the left. Continue along the road until you arrive at Pekan Tasek Gelugor. If you are coming from Kepala Batas, the P123 (Jalan Kubang Menderung) would be the road to take heading east and then south to reach Tasek Gelugor.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
