Junction of Tavoy Road with Irrawaddy Road (22 December 2012)
Tavoy Road, known today as Jalan Tavoy, is a minor road in
George Town, Penang. It connects
Burmah Road with
Irrawaddy Road.
As with many of the roads branching off Burmah Road, Tavoy Road was also named after a geographical location in Burma, in this case, the city of Tavoy, which is known presently as Dawei in southeastern Myanmar, almost directly west of Bangkok.
At the junction of Tavoy Road and Burmah Road is the
Seventh Day Adventist Church. At the curb in front of the church is perhaps
the most popular bak chang stall in Penang. Across the road is
Kedai Kopi Cathay, a coffee shop with a number of hawker stalls.
