Ramathibodi I Monument, Ayutthaya (30 December, 2002)
Monument of Ramathibodi I (Lord U-thong) (GPS: 14.35616, 100.5607; Thai: พระบรมราชานุสาวรีย์สมเด็จพระรามาธิบดีที่ 1 (พระเจ้าอู่ทอง) ) is a monument in the city of Ayutthaya, Thailand. It is located to the east of the ruins of Wat Phra Si Sanphet.
Ramathibodi I (1314-1369) is the first king of Ayutthaya. He ruled from 1350 until 1369. He was also known as Lord U Thong (meaning lord of the golden cradle) before his ascension to the throne. Ramathibodi I is said to have descended from King Mangrai, the king who founded the Lanna Kingdom in northern Thailand.
