Siam Paragon (GPS: 13.7461, 100.53411) is a huge luxurious shopping mall in downtown
Bangkok, Thailand. It located in the Pathum Wan district of downtown Bangkok, in between
Siam Center and
Wat Pathum Wanaram.
With a gross area of 300,000 square meters,
Siam Paragon Shopping Complex is one of the biggest malls in Bangkok. It opened on 9 December, 2005 offering a wide range of upscale stores and restaurants. The anchor tenant is the Paragon Department Store, which it touts as the largest department store in Southeast Asia.
Siam Paragon has a multiplex 15-screen theater with one of the theaters having the biggest screen and seating capacity in Asia. It is also home to Siam Ocean World, the largest aquarium in Southeast Asia.
Siam Paragon is a joint-venture between the Siam Group, which owns the adjacent
Siam Center and
Siam Discovery Center. It stands on the site of the former Siam Intercontinental Hotel, which was demolished following the end of its lease. The land belongs to the Bereau of Crown Property, and was at one time a royal parkland.
Getting there
Siam Paragon is accessed by the BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit Line and Silom Line. The BTS Siam Station is an elevated station above Thanon Rama 1 (Rama 1 Road). It is right in front of Siam Paragon. From the station's platform, one can get the best view of the shopping complex.
