Chanthaburi จันทบุรี is a town in eastern Thailand located some 245 km from Bangkok. It is the provincial capital of Chanthaburi Province. The town has a population of 27,600 people, within a province with a population of 480,000. The province of Chanthaburi borders on Battambang in Cambodia.
Chanthaburi goes down in Thai history as the site where General Taksin, having escaped from Burmese siege of Ayutthaya, defeated them. He was then crowned King Taksin at the subsequently established new capital at Thonburi, preceding Bangkok.

Travel to Chanthaburi
You can reach Chanthaburi by taking the bus from the Eastern Bus Terminal, next to Ekkamai Skytrain Station. The journey takes four hours. From Chanthaburi, you can reach the Cambodia border at Ban Pakard within 1-2 hours.
