Khon Kaen Province จังหวัดขอนแก่น

is one of the provinces on the Northeastern Region of Thailand. It is bordered by
Nong Bua Lamphu Province to the north,
Udon Thani Province to the northeast,
Kalasin and
Maha Sarakham provinces to the east,
Buriram Province to the southeast,
Nakhon Ratchasima Province to the south,
Chaiyaphum Province to the west, and
Phetchabun and
Loei provinces to the northwest.
Located in the Khorat Plateau, Khon Kaen Province covers 10,886 sq km (4,203 sq mi) and has a population of 1.76 million people (2012 estimate). It ranks 15th and 4th in terms of size and population respectively. The provincial capital is the town of Khon Kaen.
Khon Kaen Province is divided into 26 districts or
amphoe. They are Mueang Khon Kaen (Khon Kaen Town), Ban Fang, Phra Yuen, Nong Ruea, Chum Phae, Si Chomphu, Nam Phong, Ubolratana, Kranuan, Ban Phai, Pueai Noi, Phon, Waeng Yai, Waeng Noi, Nong Song Hong, Phu Wiang, Mancha Khiri, Chonnabot, Khao Suan Kwang, Phu Pha Man, Sam Sung, Khok Pho Chai, Nong Na Kham, Ban Haet, Non Sila and Wiang Kao. There are three minor districts being planned, namely Phu Kham Noi, Nong Kae and Non Hin.
