Noppharat Thara Beach (GPS: 8.04181, 98.81163) หาดนพรัตน์ธารา is a 3 kilometre stretch of golden sands in the subdistrict of Aonang, in Krabi. It is just next to Aonang Beach. In comparison, Noppharat Thara is the quieter cousin of Aonang, and a more likely place to encounter a Thai-style beach getaway, a place where the locals come for their picnics. Groves of casuarina provide a shady retreat from the blazing sun. The sea off Noppharat Thara Beach is part of the Noppharat Thara - Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park, a place of great beauty.
Nopphara Thara Beach is 18 kilometres from Krabi Town. From here, one may hire a speedboat or long tail boat to any of the outlying islands, including Chicken Island, Ko Poda, Ko Tap, and the Phi Phi archipelago.
So far - but not for long - Noppharat Thara is still spared the garish tourist amenities that have descended on other places in South Thailand such as Phuket, Ko Samui and even Aonang next door.
It was evening when we arrived at Noppharat Thara Beach. There was a heavy rain when we got there. I could see the islets off the coast shrouded in curtains of rain. We stopped at a seafood restaurant near the beach to have our dinner. While it continued to rain outside, we were comfortably seated in the restaurant having seafood dinner. It was rice with dishes. I remember one of the items was a dish of shells. I think we had to pick the flesh out using toothpicks.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
