Ku Chang, which means "elephant chedi", is a cylindrical-shaped stupa. It is believed to be the burial site of the war elephant of Queen Phranang Chamathewi. The elephant was called Phu Kam Nga Khiao. It had dark skin and green tusks, and was noted for its valiance in battle.
Ku Ma, which means "horse chedi", is a bell-shaped stupa. It is said to be the burial site of the horse belonging to Queen Phranang Chemathewi's son.
As with many sites in Thailand, this has turned into a shrine, with locals often coming to make offerings in veneration to images of elephant at the site.
