Wat Mahawan Woramahawihan, Lamphun (26 October, 2006)
Wat Mahawan Woramahawihan (GPS: 18.57893, 99.00342; Thai: วัดมหาวันวรมหาวิหาร

) is one of the major Thai Buddhist temples in
Lamphun, Thailand. It is located just outside Phatu Mahawan, the western gate out of the Old Town.
Wat Mahawan is noted for the ornately embellished gable on its
viharn (assembly hall) and
ho trai (scripture house). The ho trai features a gable depicting intertwined
naga (serpent). The gilded
chedi (stupa) is behind the viharn.
