Mukdahan Province จังหวัดมุกดาหาร

is a province in the Northeastern Region of Thailand, on the western bank of the
Mekong River, across from
Laos.
Apart from Laos to the east, it is also bordered by
Amnat Charoen and
Yasothon province to the south,
Roi Et Province to the southest,
Kalasin Province to the west,
Sakon Nakhon Province to the northwest and
Nakhon Phanom Province to the north.
Mukdahan Province covers 4,340 sq km (1,676 sq mi) and has a population of 341,000 people (2012 estimate). It ranks 52nd in size and 65th in population among Thai provinces. The province is divided into 7 districts or
amphoe comprising Mueang Mukdahan (Mukdahan Town), Nikhom Kham Soi, Don Tan, Dong Luang, Khamcha-i, Wan Yai and Nong Sung. The districts are subdivided into 53 subdistricts (
tambon) with a total of 493 villages (
muban).
