Pathum Thani Province จังหวัดปทุมธานี

is a province in the Central Region of Thailand. It covers 1,526 sq km (589 sq mi) and has a population of over one million people. It ranks 69th in terms of size, but 7th in terms of population density, among the 76 provinces of the country.
Pathum Thani is bordered by
Ayutthaya Province to the north,
Saraburi Province to the northeast,
Nakhon Nayok Province to the east,
Chachoengsao Province to the southeast,
Bangkok to the south and
Nonthaburi Province to the west. Being immediately north of Bangkok, it is today quite developed, with the urban sprawl of Bangkok continuing into Pathum Thani.
Pathum Thani Province was formerly known as Sam Khok. It was renamed in 1815, on the occasion of the visit by King Rama II, when the king renamed it to mean "city of lotus". The province comprises mostly of alluvial plains on both sides of the
Chao Phraya River. It is subdivided into 7 districts or
amphoe, namely Mueang Pathum Thani (Pathum Thani Town), Khlong Luang, Thanyaburi, Nong Suea, Lat Lum Kaeo, Lam Luk Ka and Sam Khok.
