Phayao Province จังหวัดพะเยา is a province of the Northern Region of Thailand. It shares an international border with Laos to the northeast, and domestic borders with Nan Province to the east, Phrae Province to the south, Lampang Province to the southwest and Chiang Rai Province to the northwest.
Phayao Province covers 6,335 sq km (2,446 sq mi) and has a population of 486,00 people. It ranks 35th in size, 46th in population, and 52nd in population density among the 76 provinces of Thailand. It is divided indo 9 districts (amphoe), which are subdivided into 68 subdistricts (tambon) and 632 villages (muban). The districts within Phayao Province are Mueang Phayao (Phayao Town), Chun, Chiang Kham, Chiang Muan, Dok Khamtai, Pong, Mae Chai, Phu Sang and Phu Kamyao.
