Rayong Province จังหวัดระยอง

is a province on the eastern part of Thailand. It covers 3,552 sq km (1,371 sq mi) and has a population of 525,000 (2011 estimate). Rayong Province is bordered by
Chanthaburi Province to the east and
Chon Buri Province to the west. It faces the Gulf of Thailand to the south.
Rayong was the province to which King Taksin escaped after the fall of Ayutthaya. From there he proceeded to Chanthaburi, where he gathered troops to stage an offensive against the invading Burmese. There is a shrine to Taksin at Rayong where the local pay respect to him.
