Satun Province จังหวัดสตูล is a province on the southern part of Thailand bordering on Malaysia. Covering an area of 2,479 sq km, it is the 63rd largest province in Thailand. Satun Province is bordered by Trang Province, Phatthalung Province, Songkhla Province, and the Malaysian states of Perlis and Kedah.
A few mountain ranges form natural borders separating Satun Province from other places. The Nakhon Si Thammarat range separates it from Songkhla Province while the Sankalakhiri mountains separate it from Malaysia.
Satun UNESCO Global Geopark
Within Satun Province are two marine national parks, namely the Ko Tarutao Marine National Park and Ko Phetra Marine National Park. An area of 11,110 sq km of Satun Province was inscribed by UNESCO as the Satun UNESCO Global Geopark on 18 April, 2018, making it Thailand's first UNESCO Global Geopark, and only the second in Southeast Asia.
