The Farm (GPS: 5.42122, 100.19782) is a tourist attraction in Pantai Aceh, Penang. It comprises an aquaponics farm, a menagerie, a duck pond and a cafe called The Lake Cafe. The menagerie is home to various animals including Indian peafowl (peacocks and peahens), golden pheasants, miniature goats, dwarf rabbits and a cassowary. There are plans to let the birds out of the aviary, so that they can roam freely among the visitors.
The aquaponics farm produces various fresh vegetables, fruits and flowering plants. These include kailan, choy sum, Taiwan pak choy, cos lettuce, red and green amaranth, Chinese kale, green Malabar spinach, arcadia/Chinese cabbage, cabbage, broccoli, Japanese melon, eggplant, strawberry, lady's fingers and cucumber. There is also banana (pisang merah) and papayas.
The vegetables are organically fertilized. To do that, the farm breeds telapia fish. The fish droppings are used as fertilizer for the vegetables. The temperature inside the aquaponics greenhouse is app-controlled.
The duck pond at The Farm is a selfie spot. It has ducks and geese that often swim in the water. It has a number of giant bird nest seats that were imported from Bali. These are installed at scenic points for photography.
The Farm at Pantai Aceh opened to the public at 10:00am on 24 December 2022. My wife and I happened to be their very first paying customers!

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
