The Light Hotel Penang is all ready to usher in the Muslim Holy Month of Ramadan with a dinner buffet. Under the able leadership of the hotel's Executive Chef Halim Mohamad, this year's theme is Mutiarasa. It is a sumptuous feast that showcases a plethora of Penang and Muslim delicacies. It is truly an ode to the Pearl of the Orient!
Mutiarasa commences on 18 May running through 14 June, 2018. It is priced at RM110 nett (adult), RM90 nett (child and senior citizen). For a limited time only, until 30 April, 2018, there is a Ramadan promotional voucher for this buffet going at just RM88 nett per person!

Mutiarasa Food Review
My wife and I enjoyed the pleasure of sampling Mutiarasa at its food review on 18 April, 2018. We were overjoyed to meet other members of the local social media community, especially our Malay blogger friends whom we have not met up recently. The hotel has certainly pulled all stops to make it a grand occasion, with the guest of honour being the Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1, Yang Berhormat Dato' Haji Mohd Rashid bin Hasnon.
As part of the launch, The Light Hotel Penang General Manager, Mr Raj Kumar, gamely joined in to partake of Juadah Qash'ah, also known as Juadah Dalam Duang. This is an Arabic-style meal taken from a large tray. At The Light Hotel Penang's Mutiarasa, there was a hearty portion of Mandy Rice (also known as Nasi Arab) with a choice of spring chicken or lamb. This meal is actually available to guests who request for it. It gives them the experience of enjoying a typical kampung style meal. The Juadah Qash'ah is available as a meal for 4 persons, and is priced at RM250 nett.
The launch of Mutiarasa would not be complete without honouring the chefs involved. Executive Chef Halim Mohammad, Senior Executive Sous Chef Murugan Balakrishnan and Chinese Sous Chef H'ng Weng Kiang received a thunderous round of applause from all the guests for having put together this fantastic feast.
After the formalities were over, everybody had a great time enjoying the dishes - there was so much to eat, and stomach space being so limited, I had no choice but to be selective. Among the items that stood out for me included the Gulai Udang, Gulai Kepala Ikan and Ayam Bawang, to name some. And when I was done with the savoury items, I plunged right in to enjoy the kuihs and desserts - what a sugar rush and I loved it.
Let me now show you a selection of the dishes that we had at The Light Hotel Penang's Mutiarasa buffet dinner. My wife and I are so thankful to The Light Hotel Penang for giving us this chance to enjoy their wonderful meal, and I hope, come this Ramadan, you will be feasting here too!

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
