Too Salty Sculpture, Green Hall, George Town, Penang (12 May 2013)

The
"Too Salty" Sculpture is a steel-rod sculpture on a wall in
Green Hall, George Town. Based on a caricature by Mun Kian, it shows two almost bald salt coolies who were concerned that their over-exposure to salt had led to their thinning hair.
"Too Salty" Sculpture reminds us of the time when Green Hall was populated by Tamils, many of whom were engaged in the salt trade. Since the 1980s the street underwent gentrification that reshaped its character, becoming the stocks and securities centre that we know of it today.
Getting there
The "Too Salty" Sculpture is near the junction of Green Hall and Light Street. The nearest bus stop along
Light Street is served by
Rapid Penang bus 103, 204, 502 and
CAT.
