The Tourist Information Centre along Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah is one of the tourist information centres, in George Town, Penang. Other locations of tourist information centres in George Town include the Tourism Malaysia Penang Branch on Beach Street and another in Komtar. (I will add details on them once I get to them!) You can also get tourist brochures, maps and pamphlets from the George Town World Heritage Inc office along Carnarvon Street and of course at the Penang International Airport.

The Tourist Information Centre at Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah is particularly convenient for tourists arriving by ship and ocean liners, as it occupies an outlet within the Penang Port arcade. From this centre, tourists can get information on Malaysia in general and Penang in particular. The centre is open during office hours - when I was there, as you can see, it was close.

Getting there

If you are exiting Port Swettenham from its main gate, walk along the main road (King Edward Place) until the roundabout, then continue on Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah until you reach the Tourist Information Centre. It is the last outlet of the arcade.
