Tua Wa Kong Hokkien Mee Restaurant (20 October 2013)
Tua Wa Kong is a restaurant specializing in Hokkien mee. It occupies two adjoining shophouses at 8 Row in Krian Road, George Town.
The name Tua Wa Kong is a transliteration of tua3 wna1 kong, meaning "big bowl" in
Penang Hokkien. It offers a selection of Hokkien mee, both wet and dry versions.

Tua Wa Kong Hokkien Mee (20 October 2013)

Patrons to Tua Wa Kong place their orders at the counter and make payment there. Each standard order costs RM8.50. They are then given a beeper to take with them to their table. When their order is ready, the beeper start to sound. They return the beeper to the counter and collect their order.
My wife and I have been to Tua Wa Kong only once. I ordered the dry Hokkien Mee with prawns. It came with one large prawn. Apart from the prawn, the noodle is
a lot! I had difficulty finishing it (before I began to feel "jelak"). Perhaps it's because I'm not used to taking dry Hokkien mee. I intend to return to Tua Wa Kong another day to try their regular wet Hokkien mee, to see how much I like it.
At RM8.50 per bowl, this is certainly one of the more expensive places to have Hokkien mee. I would recommend ordering the bowl with prawns, which is better value for money. After eating, you can paste your thoughts and comments on the wall with post-it notes that are available on the table.
