Tiffin Meal at Umi Restaurant, The TOP (13 January 2019)
Umi Restaurant at The TOP, Komtar, is now making available its authentic Malay dishes in the form of tiffin sets. The set is priced at RM42 for 2-3 pax and RM99 for 4-6 pax.
My wife and I were so privileged to get a chance to sample the dishes. We visited the restaurant yesterday, 13 January, 2019, and were warmly greeted by Miss Ayu, the restaurant manager who is also the cook. She and her staff made us feel at home.
Among the items that go into the tiffin set include Ayam Goreng Berempah, Mixed Vegetables, Rendang Daging, Lamb Kurma, Kari Asam Pedas and Bendi Sambal. Everything was so good. I especially loved the Kari Asam Pedas, which comes with a fish head. The gravy is thick, and went well with hot white rice. So much so that I had a second portion of rice (and felt too full afterwards!)
I truly enjoyed the meal at Umi Restaurant. Where Malay dishes are concerned, this is as authentic as it gets.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
