Rex Hotel is a popular hotel and meeting place at the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Located at Nguyen Hue Boulevard, District 1, it is one of the hotels built in the 1950's by the French colonials.
During the Vietnam War, Rex Hotel was a popular watering hole for American soldiers. This was where they had their social and military activities, and from here, the US military officers issued daily press briefings, which came to be known as the "Five O'Clock Follies".
Today, Rex Hotel is still a popular social venue. Corporate executives hold power lunches here while gamblers head for the bingor parlors. The hotel also plays host to local weddings at its central court.
