Móng Cái is a city in northeastern Vietnam, on the border with China. Across the border is the town of Dongxing in Guangxi Autonomous Region in China. Móng Cái covers 515 sq km (198.8 sq mi) and has a population of 73,000 people (2011 estimate). The Ka Long River, also called Beilun River in China, marks the natural boundary separating Vietnam from China . There is a bridge here linking Móng Cái with Dongxing.
Due to the high volume of trade passing between Vietnam and China, Móng Cái has a calculated as being the "wealthiest" city in Vietnam, with average income of US$20,000 per family. The city itself is a big emporium for wholesale goods from China. It has six big markets for goods mainly from mainland China.
Most of the tourists to Móng Cái are Vietnamese from other parts of the country coming here on shopping expeditions. Due to its position as a trading hub, many people in Móng Cái are able to converse in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
