Wing Look Restaurant

The former Wing Look Restaurant, now Poh Sing Pawnshop (29 September 2012)


Wing Look Restaurant (GPS: 5.41738, 100.33055) is a now defunct historic restaurant along Penang Road, Penang. It stood at the corner between Penang Road and Phee Choon Road. As with Loke Thye Kee at the other end of the block, Wing Look was operated by Hainanese chefs churning out Chinese-style Western fare.

Wing Look was where I got my first taste of Chicken Chop - Hainanese style, that is, with slices of cucumber, tomatoes, green peas and a single buttered bun. The restaurant ceased operations in the early 1980s. The building remained vacant for many years before it was taken over by a pawnshop.
