Wonderfood Museum's Pasar Malam Minatures (15 May 2016)

The Wonderfood Pasar Malam Diorama is a set of miniatures by Penang's imminent miniature sculptor
Khoo Chooi Hooi. It depicts a scene at a
pasar malam, or night market, with stalls selling various hawker food. This is the first time I have seen a Khoo Chooi Hooi miniature set of a night scene.
Once again, his observation skills and faithfulness to details shine through. Every item on the scene that appears so casually strewn is not casual at all, of course, but the result of carefully arranging every item in order to capture a snapshot of an actual scene in miniature. And that's what makes a Khoo Chooi Hooi miniature so engrossing. The darkness is also nicely authentic, with little bulbs providing ambient light.
These miniatures were incredibly difficult for me to photograph, due to the challenging light condition.
