Yahong Art Gallery (7 December 2008)


Yahong Art Gallery (GPS: 5.4702, 100.24569) is said to be the largest art gallery in Penang. It is located in Batu Ferringhi, across the road from Parkroyal Penang. The gallery exhibits not only paintings, but also all forms of handicrafts.

Yahong Art Gallery is noted for its collection of batik paintings by Chuah Thean Teng, one of the most imminent batik painters in the country. Works by Theng Teng as well as his two artist sons are displayed on the upper level of the gallery.

In addition to the batik painting, Yahong Art Gallery also sells a variety of handicrafts, especially those from Malaysia. Items showcased include Sarawak pottery, wood carvings, silverware, pewterware, jewellery, antiques and much more.
