Jalan Yeoh Guan Seok, Pulau Tikus, Penang (27 December 2020)
Jalan Yeoh Guan Seok or
Yeoh Guan Seok Road is a minor road in the
Pulau Tikus suburb of
George Town, Penang. It connects
Jalan Cantonment with
Lebuhraya Codrington.
Yeoh Guan Seok Road was named after a Chinese community leader who was a member of the
Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the early part of the 20th century. He was schooled at the
Penang Free School, where he was the 29th School Captain in 1899. He was elected as a Municipal Commissioner of George Town on 6 December, 1910.
Today Jalan Yeoh Guan Seok is residential in nature. At the junction with Cantonment Road are two apartment blocks,
Porta Mas Apartment on the north side and
Villa Indah Apartment on the south side. Once a quiet street, it has seen an increase in traffic after the re-routing of traffic routes in Pulau Tikus, turning it into a one-way street with traffic flow from Lebuhraya Codrington to Jalan Cantonment.
