Pantai Cenang, Langkawi (6 June, 2005)
Pantai Cenang (GPS: 6.29559, 99.72281), also written Pantai Chenang, is a 2-kilometer stretch of fine powdery sandy beach fringed by coconut palms on the west coast of
Pulau Langkawi.
Pantai Cenang is the main beach belt on the island, with the highest concentration of hotels and guest houses. Thanks to local regulations, no establishment at Pantai Cenang can exceed the height of the coconut palms. The place has changed a lot since the last time I visited in 2005 (I also visited last year, but the trip is so short I do not count that).
Nowadays, Jalan Pantai Cenang is lined on both sides with shops and restaurants. You can get most of your supplies here, as we did. There is a 7-Eleven as well as a few other mini markets where we re-load on items we did not bring from home.

From Pantai Cenang, one can see the outlying islands of
Pulau Rebak Besar and
Pulau Rebak Kecil as well as the mountain range of
Gunung Machincang in the northwest. One of the major attractions at Pentai Cenang is the
Langkawi Underwater World marine showcase.
